However, less is known in Estonia about the postpartum doula service, which is quite common in other parts of the world. The joy of the birth of the baby can soon be replaced by worry, anxiety and fear when you get home - maybe I'm doing something wrong? Is he still breathing? Although a newborn baby seems to do nothing but eat and sleep, a new mother may find that taking care of herself alongside her baby is unexpectedly difficult.

To help with these and many other problems, there is a doula who can come to your home, listen and offer psychological support, hold the baby or go for a walk with him so that you can take a moment to catch your breath and collect yourself. The doula also helps answer questions related to caring for the baby and, if necessary, guides in washing, feeding and dressing. The doula can also support by preparing food, if necessary, by going to the store beforehand.
